Maybe you’re familiar with this verse:
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8, NIV)
Seems pretty straight forward, but my guess is you HAVE been asking…ferverently, honestly, desperately and yet your womb is still empty, your crib not filled. I heard a speaker on the radio refer to it as a “Vending Machine Prayer”. You ask for a good job, pray for it, press B9 and a week later a job offer comes in. Most theologians believe this verse is referring to salvation. If you ask for salvation, seek salvation, and knock on God’s door he will open the door of salvation and eternal life through his son Jesus. So it is not a verse enticing us to ask for whatever we want.
Others believe it has a connotation that means that if you ask, seek and knock for things that are IN GOD”S WILL He will provide those things for you, in His time. Does that mean that having a baby is not in God’s will for you? Maybe, for now. Why? We don’t know and may never know. Does that mean it will never be in His will for you to be a mother or have another baby? No.
It is difficult to trust in His timing. I struggle with that daily, still. If you trust He is working behind the scenes than the waiting will be less painful (painful, yes, but less so).
So continue to ask, seek and keep knocking. God is listening and He cares deeply.
